After the first two times of attempting to visit and order. I passed by today and decided today would be the day. And it was. Standing out in the cool blowing wind with other customers, I was able to place an order. The food was good, it was like a glance back into my childhood visiting a Burger Barn if you know what that is. The burger and toppings were fresh, the fries were fries. This visit I watched the customer service carefully, and I have to say there was an improvement. Overall the place looks like how you would expect a walk up wing and burger joint to look. It's on the corner near a neighborhood that is relatively safe. Again the ambiance brought up nostalgic feelings and memories of my childhood. Overall, I would return and I would recommend it.
So I haven't been here since early college. My initial visit just wasn't fitting for me. A friend suggested I should give them another try. I was in the area and pressed for time so I decided to stop by. Parking is tight! My suggestion is to pull in on Chestnut St. The building is aged. But the service is standard and ordering moves pretty fast. They gave me a ticket and the wait for my food was about 10 mins or so. It's cooked fresh to order. I was worried given my last experience, but the chicken wings was amazing. They were seasoned well, good size, and cooked well. The fries were fresh too and lightly salted which I prefer. The plate also came with a roll and a regular size drink for about $10. I'm definitely going back!
First time trying and a Chicago native, I must say the food was awesome. I will be back!!! My new spot!
I am not in Columbia often and was heading down Millwood and saw several people standing in line at Anthony's Dairy Bar and was able to see the sign with wings, gizzards, and livers. On my way back up an hour later, the restaurant was closed. I went out of my way to go back during business hours and was not disappointed. I got the sampler platter with lemon pepper wings, gizzards and livers and fries and that &$#@ was OFF THE CHAIN, ya' hear me?? Not too salty, seasoned just right. OMG. It reminded me of a joint I used to go to in Baltimore many years ago. Anyway, I must say that I also got two hotdogs for my doggie kids that were NOT cooked at all-they with had the octagonal shape that they have in the package but since I was giving them to my dogs I won't stress that too much but make sure they cook yours. I'll give them a solid 4 and go back every chance I get.
Anytime I don't have to ask for my wings to be fried hard, is win for me. I had the wings and gizzards combo. They were seasoned and cooked to perfection. Also, if you order a drink, go with the fruit punch. It tastes just like red Koolaid.
